Week in Review

  • It's Friday!  Hey now!  It's been a while since I've done the "Week in Review" thing.  So, here I go.  Let's do this thang.
  • Random story.  I got a bagel and cream cheese at the bagel place across from my work.  I was looking at my bagel and noticed something that looked oddly "blood like" smeared on my bagel.  I thought, "Oh heck no that better not be blood..." and then figured it was most likely something like strawberry jam or what not.  I tore that part off though just in case and went to take another bite...when I saw what was definitely blood smeared on one of my fingers.  What the heck?  I could not figure out where it was coming from.  Did the bagel guy cut himself while cutting my bagel (SICCCK!), was it me who was bleeding?  I told my coworker and she then enlightened me to the fact that my lip was full on bleeding.  Yeah, I cut my lip on a BAGEL!  I have no idea how I accomplished such a thing but I was relieved to find out I was ingesting my own blood and not someone else's (shudder).
  • So....we still haven't found a car.  We were sooooo close.  It was a nice car, right price range (though it was a bit more then I wanted to pay), but we sat on it a day too long and someone bought it before us.  I've kinda come to the point that I don't really care anymore.  We'll find one eventually but I don't want to buy one to just buy one.  Honestly one of our parents can drive us home from the hospital and we do have the truck....we just don't ALL fit in the truck at the same time.  So whatev dude.  Whatev. (This is what scanning Craigslist for the last month with no luck does to you if you can't tell).  :)
  • Remember how we got a "score" on Craigslist with our crib?  Yeah...  So, apparently the crib is possibly missing a piece which may or may not compromise the thing (it still seems solid to me).  Jason was trying to figure out how to assemble the crib and so called the manufacturer number.  They informed him that the crib was a 1993 model.  For real.  It's over 20 years old.  A) It seriously doesn't look that old.  B) The woman made it sound like she bought the crib for her kids new...and her kids were like 3 and 4 years old.  This is obviously NOT the case.  It was some sort of hand-me-down or something for her.  The lady at the company recommended that we not use it.  Jason went ahead and assembled it anyways just to look at it.  It's really not in bad shape and I feel mostly comfortable using it.  Jason though wants to glue the whole thing together as a precaution if we do use it, haha.  In reality though he wants to get rid of it and get a new one.  *Sigh*  The cheap side of me says, no way dude.  But I don't feel totally comfortable using it either.  If we glue the whole thing together it will no longer fit through the door so we would have to break it apart to get it out of the house thus not being usable for any future children and requiring us to buy a new crib anyways in the future.  PHEW.  That was a wordy bullet.  So...I think we are going to buy a new crib.  Anyone ever buy one from Ikea or Target?  We are looking to spend less then $200.  Closer to $100 would be nice. ;)
  • So I've blogged a tiny bit about facial products/makeup I like and I just have to tell you about my cleaning regimen I've come across.  So I have super crappy skin.  I used to be prone to breakouts.  Fortunately that stage of my life is over (I hope) but I'm still left with this crazy combination skin where it's super oily in some parts and so dry it literally flakes in other areas.  Yuck.  I have spent maybe 10 years looking for a facial cleanser that works and well...nothing really has.  It's all just okay.  I ventured into Sephora about 5 months ago and decided to break down and try something a little more expensive.  I decided to give the Philosophy line a whirl.  I bought the mini bottle of Purity cleanser (since they had it...I wanted to try it before dropping more money) and the regular size bottle of the Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash (they didn't have the small travel size).  Oh my gosh.  I'm so impressed.  It's been 5 months and my skin feels like buttah.  Buttah I tell you.  At the end of the day I'm not oily and I don't have big dry patches anymore.  My skin usually "gets used to" a product and goes back to the way it was.  Not this time!  I use the Purity cleanser at night and the exfoliating wash in the morning.  I'm in love.  Seriously.  And though it's a bit more pricey it actually lasts a really long time so in the end...it's probably not much more then other drugstore face washes.  Aaaaaaand yeah.  Just thought I'd share.  :)

Ok that was the wordiest bullet post evuh!  Glad you made it this far.  Or maybe you didn't.  ;)  Either way!  Happy weekend!

Untitled Nonsense

I'm running out of things to post about ya'll.
For real.

I feel like the only thing I can think to blog about is this here little one that's sucking the life out of me errr I mean, growing delicately and lovingly within me.

Is that okay if I talk about that?
Does that get boring?

I can't remember if I found it entertaining to read about pregnancy related stuff when I wasn't pregnant or if I thought, "Blah blah blah, yeah yeah yeah, having a baby is a miracle PLEASE talk about something else."  Seriously, I can't remember.  I can't remember much of anything lately.  Like what did I have for dinner last night?  Don't know.  I DO know I had cupcakes from the box.  The funfetti ones WITH vanilla rainbow chip frosting (from the can mind you).  This healthy, whole foods eater should be saying, "SICK!  How could you EAT that chemical filled crap they try to call "food"...and for that matter expose your growing child within you to it?"  But that's when I kick that healthy eater in the shins, and tell her to shut her trap and quit judgin'.  Yeah, I fight/have conversations with myself often.  Madness I tell you.  Madness.

So, remember when I was all tootin' my own horn, "Oh, I sleep pretty good and don't wake up to use the bathroom too often."  Yeah.  Jinxed myself for sure.  I have NOT been sleeping well.  Bathroom trips are now 2 x's a night...which isn't so bad.  But I wake up a bajillion times a night now.  Mostly with hip and belly pain.  I can only sleep on one side for so long before it feels like all the muscles on that one side are about to rip in half.  Lovely.  Soreness galore!  I'm a shining beacon of sunshine at work now a days...let me tell you!

Speaking of work.  11 works days until I peace out for maternity leave.  Crazy pants.  They still haven't found a replacement for me yet...though I think they're close.  Which means I don't have much time to train her.  Which means if this baby hasn't popped out of me I may feel guilty and stay on a few extra days.  Maybe.  Of course if I keep this lack of sleep up they may just say, "Oh, it's okay, we'd rather have the new employee be helpless and UNtrained then have your sorry, cranky self hanging around."  Ah well.  I don't blame them. :)

All this to say.  Despite what it appears...I'm still a fan of pregnancy.  It really has been easy for me and I feel very blessed.  So thank you Lord for an easy pregnancy...may I have an easy birth too?  ;)

35 Weeks

Hello Week 35.

Two weeks until full term.

5 weeks until "D Day"....hopefully.  ;)

So what's happening?

Not much really.
This week has been rather uneventful.  I'm pretty sure that this kid has gone from head down to breech...at lease 2 or 3 times.  Alls I gots to say is he besta not get stuck head up.  He currently is head down.  I can usually tell by his hiccups.  If I feel like they're in my rump...then he's head down.  When my rig cage is convulsing...head up.  Anyways, next week I have an ultrasound to make sure he is in fact head down...and to probably see how big this little monkey is weighing in at so far.

So, I'm a pretty healthy eater...in general.  We almost always eat home cooked meals from scratch and I do my best to use whole foods.  It's how we roll.  Let me tell you though what I ate today.  Ready?

1 banana, a pastry, a handful of cherries, 2 bowls of Lucky Charms, some jelly beans, a frappacino, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and a banana split.  Hello porky.  I feel like my appetite is really weird right now.  The only things that sound good are junk food.  So...yeah.  I think the next couple of days will be detox days for sure.  Though it tastes good going down, eating those foods certainly don't help the energy level...and let's face it.  I need me some energy now a days.

Speaking of energy.  I tried to take a nap on Saturday AND Sunday.  The munchkin wasn't having it though.  He thought that was a perfect time to kick and roll and press his little legs into my sides and ribs.  I just couldn't fall asleep with all those shenanigans going on. The second I got up...he got quiet.  Apparently someone was not digging nap time.  That will not do little man...it will not do.  :)

I think that I can sum up this week with one word, EMOTIONAL!  I am not emotional too.  I'm very even tempered, I laugh a lot but I rarely cry.  I though, have felt on the brink of tears about 6 times this last week...and I really couldn't tell you why.  I cried Friday night...and Sunday afternoon.  Just for the heck of it.  Good times, good times.  Poor Jason.  :)  I'm assuming we can attribute the flood gates being opened to hormones...or I'm just going crazy.

And I guess that's it.  35 weeks or so down.  Can't wait to meet our little booger.  By the way.  I just realized that our original due date (the one I'm still going by) is Father's Day!  How cool to have this little dude on Father's Day...yet I wouldn't complain if he comes earlier too.  :)

Anywho.  I DO have a picture but it's taking forever and a day to load soooo...just imagine me a tiny bit bigger then last week.  :)

Friday Funny: Ship My Pants

Here's a little something to make you laugh.

Or at least I sure as heck laughed.
Probably because I'm totally immature and a total sucker for potty humor.

You may have seen this as I think it was featured on The Today Show.

If you haven't though....
You should watch it.

I gotta give K Mart props.  I definitely wouldn't expect a commercial that was actually some what funny from K Mart.  Hope you enjoy!  :)

Happy Friday
(I'm totally computer illiterate and only know how to copy and paste the link...I don't know how to actually put a straight up video on my blog.  Oh well. :)

Random Thoughts

I feel like my posts as of late have had little to no cohesiveness.  I'm just tired people.  My brain is sorta lagging for sure.  I find it really hard to maintain a thought.  I feel like I really have no excuse too.  I hear about how people who are pregnant waking up 5-6 times a night to go to the bathroom but I totally don't.  I've got my water drinking down to a science.  I drink about 3 Nalgenes a day and pee all the live long day...at least every hour.  Once I get home though I have a glass of water with dinner and that's it.  I go to bed between 10 and 11pm...go to the bathroom right before I hit the hay.  I get up once at about 2 or 3am and then again about 6-7am which is when I wake up on week days for work anyways.  Boo yah.  So NOW you know my urinating habits....you're welcome.  :)

Anyways, I told you all of that to let you know that I get plenty of sleep every night and really have no excuse when it comes to being tired.  So there.

I just received my Timbuk2/diaper bag.  I went with the grey herringbone.  I seriously LOVE it.  They also randomly had a 20% off sale that I happened to run into.  Oh yay!  Very exciting.  :)  I love getting something you were already planning on buying at an even cheaper price.

We also have a shipment of Bumgenius diapers coming.  This will complete our diaper needs.  My parents bought most of our stash which was amazing.  On cottonbabies.com they have a deal where you get 6 diapers for like $86...free shipping and no tax.  Yes!  That's like just over $14/diaper.  Good deal.  It seems...at least right now...that Jason will prefer using the pocket diapers.  Since he will have the little guy 2/days a week I want to make it as easy for him as possible.

And this concludes my random, rambling post.

Oh wait, one more thing.  So yesterday I woke up...like every morning :).  Every morning though I lie in bed until I feel the little tyke give me a couple of kicks.  He does this without.fail.every.morning.  This particular morning though...nothing.  I rolled from side to side, rubbed my belly, pushed on my belly...did everything that usually makes him move.  NOTHING!  So I got up, took a shower, continued to try to make him move...nothing.  Then I started to sorta freak out.  Your mind just goes crazy.  "What's wrong?  He always moves?  Why isn't he moving?  Is he okay?  Oh my gosh I can't breath."  You know, that type of thing.  No big deal.  Ugh.  Then as I'm drying off he kicks me a couple of times.  Thank you Lord.  Wow.  Then I feel totally dumb, realize how little faith I have and yeah.  I explain all this to Jason after my shower and he looks at me and says, "Leave my little guy alone, he's just trying to get some sleep."  Sheesh.  No sympathy.  I think HE should carry this baby around and be aware of his every move/or lack of for a while.  See how it works out for HIM!  :)  hahaha.  And that's the lastest.

Now I'm really done.
Happy Wednesday.

34 Weeks

I was doing my baby updates every month or so.

But since we're winding down...starting to get towards the end I thought I would TRY to do an update every week.  We'll see how that goes.  :)

So, I'm just over 34/35 weeks.  Depending on what due date you are going by.  Since I plan to be "that woman" who's totally overdue and going for 4 mile daily walks in hopes of eluding being induced I'm sticking with the original due date.  So 34 weeks it is.

What's new in baby land?

I saw my doctor Friday.  Everything is measuring on track and good.  She's pretty sure he's head down...which I agree.  I've been feeling a whole lot more pressure and what not down south.  :)  I also feel like he's not as high as he once was.  All the kicks are more in the middle rather then in my rib cage...a nice change.  We'll be doing an ultrasound in 2 weeks just to double check he's where he needs to be.

So...I gained 4 lbs.  In TWO weeks.  I was completely fine with my weight gain until this last appt.  I've been totally on par with what's normal for weight gain...and then I gained 2 lbs per week...instead of 1 lb/week.  The weird thing about it is I've had really no appetite and feel like I haven't increased my food consumption at all.  So where did it come from???  Weird.  Hopefully this isn't the new normal haha.  Oh well, it is what it is eh?

I think it's slowly becoming a bit more real that this baby within me will be coming OUT.  Jason is definitely starting to get excited and told me a couple of days ago, "I want my baby."  I told him he's not ready to come out and he'll have to wait a bit longer.  :)  He's going to be such a good daddy.  Sorta makes me smile...just a little. :)  The realization of birth is starting to become a bit more real for ME.  I was telling Jason that I'm scared I can't do it.  Like what if I can't handle it?  It's going to be intense...for the both of us.  Like nothing we've ever experienced.  Crazy stuff.  Good thing we have a bit more time to wrap our minds around it (as if time is REALLY going to prepare me for what's to come.  I say "ha" to that.  A Double "Ha! Ha!")

I FINALLY started to clear out the spare room.  Maybe I'm finally starting to nest?  It think so :)  I washed a lot of our diapers, some clothes and blankets and there is ACTUALLY a place for the crib now.  Amazing I tell ya! :)  Jason will set it up during his break coming up.  Oh yay!  Oh...and I'm almost done with his little quilt.  Pictures of that to come.  I'm hoping to finish this weekend.

Well, I guess that's all for now.  Getting excited to meet our baby boy.  :)

For the Love of Random

So, with about 5-6 weeks before this kid makes his grand debut we are starting to slowly pick away at the last few things that we need.  First, I am happy to say that almost everything we have fits into the one changing table/dresser combination thing.  We really worked hard to shop for space saving things.  I'm also trying to be conscientious of need vs. want.  Jason and I have made a huge effort to separate these two things...denying ourselves of a lot of wants because A) we didn't have the money with him in grad school and B) we just don't NEED to buy everything we want...even if it's cheap (Jason is WAAAAY better at this then me haha).  We would like to teach our little mister this...but also practically speaking our house is too small to go baby crazy with products.

For extra products outside of clothes, diapers, and things for his general care we decided to get a foldable swing...that fits under his crib, a pac and play type thing to take with us when we go home
and travel, a breast pump, a foldable PUJ bathtub that hangs on the side of his changing table/dresser, a Moby and an Ergo (probably didn't need both of these though...but Jason won't do the Moby and once the booger gets bigger I think the Ergo will be our go-to) and a BOB stroller.  Aside from a few toys and books that were gifts that's the extent of our baby stuff.  And I'm quite content.  The only thing I can foresee us needing in the future is some sort of mat or rug thing for the baby to lie on since our whole house it tile...but that can wait. :)

Anyways, one of the things I think I would like is a Boppy.  It seems like a good idea but let.me.pick.my.chin.off.the.floor.  It's 30 freaking dollars???  For a pillow?  You have got to be kidding me.

So, here is my idea.  What if I took a waterproof Boppy cover for $10 on amazon and stuffed it super full of stuffing (that I already have).  Do you think it would work?  Since the cover is water resistant it will rid myself of the need to wash the pillow in the washer...and I have plenty of fabric to make my own cover.  Am I being too cheap?  Should I just break down and buy the dumb $30 pillow?   :) What do you think?

On a totally different note I've come across a few blogs/charities on accident about still birth and can I just say...freak.out.  Break my heart.  I don't know why I never thought of this before but holy cow that's scary and totally not something I want to think about.  Sometimes the internet and over exposure totally sucks.  Good grief.  Sorry, that was a downer moment but just thought I'd let you know the extent to which I worry sometimes over this pip squeak.  Darn child.  :)

Anyways, Jason was wanting to go backpacking not this weekend but next weekend.  He thought there was cell service but it looks like there may not be.  He would be gone for about 2 1/2 days.  He now doesn't want to go because he's terrified I'll go into labor and yet I WANT him to go because being that it's 4 weeks before my due date I don't foresee me popping a baby out anytime soon.  I mean, doesn't your body give you warning signs or something that birth is coming?  Do you just wake up and out of the blue have the baby?  What do you think?  4 weeks before due date too soon or should he go for it?  I have an appt. this Friday and thought I'd ask my doc.

Phew.  Well, that concludes my rather random post!  Happy Tuesday everyone! :)
