39 Weeks

39 Weeks

Today is due date #1

The one that was given by the fancy ultrasound doc.
You know, cause the babe has been measuring a little big since my 10 week appt.  Literally.

The ob though has kept to my original due date since it's only a week apart and really...what's in a due date right?

I had my 39 week appt on Friday and everything looks good.  Baby is doing well.  I'm doing surprising well for being so pregnant...not terribly uncomfortable.  I'm dilating and effaced.  I just feel really blessed with this whole pregnancy.  I mean...it's really been some what easy all things considering.  Thank you God!

So, my doctor's office isn't big on the whole "guess the baby weight" thing before it's born...because it's not altogether accurate.  And yet...guess what?  She's slightly worried about his size.  She said that as of now he's looking to be 8-9 lbs.  Gah.  Then she asked the question, "So how big of a baby were you and your husband?"  Try just under 10 lbs...the both of us.  All my brothers...pretty big.  Granted genetics doesn't mean everything buuuuut...if it does...we're screwed.  haha.  Basically, she would love for me to have the baby now...or in the next week.  She's not thrilled about me becoming overdue.  That's good because neither am I. :) I mean, in the end it's our decision but she would like to induce sooner then later.  *Sigh*.  If I can avoid it...I don't want to be induced.  I mean who WANTS to be induced right?  I have my "birth plan" which involves me sucking it up and going drug-free.  I would love to use the labor tub.  Being induced sorta throws that plan out the window.  On the flip side I do not want to try to birth a 10 lb baby only to have him get stuck and need a C-Section (far far worse then that happened when I was born because of my size...I'm aware of what can happen when a small woman tries to birth a big baby haha).  Decisions.  I always told myself that I would in the end be flexible...because it just doesn't always go as planned.  And I'm trying to do that.  I think we're willing to go a week past my due date (and the doc seems good with that too) and then we'll see.  Who knows.

In the end he will come.  One way or another.  I can pray and pray all I want for the labor and birth that I desire and yet...God may not give that to me.  And I just need to be okay with that.  It's the safety and the health of the baby that really matters sooooo...yeah.  It is what it is.

At my last appt. she did some things to "stir the pot" so to speak to get labor going.  I started having contractions for a few hours on Friday and Saturday but they've since gone away.

So, if you think of me...pray for labor!  haha.  I feel like I'm getting close.  My body has given me some "lovely" signs indicating that I'm moving that way.  I just need to start labor...and stay in labor.  :)

Anyways, either way...one week left, two weeks left, naturally started birth, induced birth...it's the home stretch baby and Bring.It.On.
Welp, just over 39 weeks now.  Come on baby boy...we want to meet ya.  :)

This and That

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Guess where I'm NOT at?!?  Work!  Yeah.  So garsh darn weird.  Seriously.  I have pretty much worked non stop since I was 16.  I can't remember the last time I didn't have to go to work just because.  I mean, you know, I take time off but it's usually filled with trips and vacations.  Things that definitely keep you busy.  I'm almost at a loss as to what to do with myself.

Monday I thought maybe we were going to have some labor coming on.  I felt really sick, and started having contractions.  But then they stopped.  Nope.  False alarm.  :)

Tuesday I felt great.  Went on a 5 mile walk...cleaned the house.  Nada.  Not one contraction.

Today I've started on my freezer meals.  So far I've whipped up two tubs of chicken noodle soup, and a lasagna.  I'm off to have lunch with the huz but afterwards I'll make homemade mac and cheese and tomorrow freezer burritos.  Just trying to stock up to make life a little easier for well...Jason.  haha.  Cause who are we kidding...I ain't going to be TOUCHING that stove for a couple of weeks.  :)

Anyways, I guess that's it.  Here are a few pictures of our last week or so.
Jason "walked" for his graduation.  He was technically done last December but they only have commencement once a year.  Jason's grandma and parents came up for the event.  Let me tell you...2 1/2 hours on bleachers with a 9 month belly...not exactly comfy.  But it was fun to see my man in his purple dress. ;)
Jason and I last weekend went on a hike in the Presidio area.  It was super foggy.  The hike ended up being 3 miles...but there were a TON of stairs and let me tell you...I.was.feeling.it.  :)  The hike ended at this area where there was a cafe with hot chocolate...and a bathroom.  My kind of hike.

On the way back to the car the fog started to part and you could just make out the Golden Gate Bridge.  I'm not a big city girl by any means but we have really enjoyed our time in San Francisco.  God has been very good to us.

Aaaaaand we got our crib.  And Jason assembled it.  I really like it.  The other one has since been taken away.  And guess what else???  Our 2nd room is actually kinda organized...and clean.  As in...I think we can actually put a kid in it without losing him.  :)  This is a good thing.  I would show pics but it's not really a nursery.  I mean, I didn't decorate or anything.  It's literally an office with a crib and changing thingy thrown into it.  Not that exciting.  On the up side...apparently world maps are trendy things in kids' rooms now and we already have one up...so we're kinda cool like that I guess.  ;)

Welp, I'm off to shower and make myself look somewhat presentable before I walk onto campus and see Jason and his fellow colleagues.  Have a great week!  :)

38 Weeks

So is this the home stretch?

I sure hope it is :).  I mean either way I probably have a max of what...worst case scenario, 3-4 weeks left?  Considering it's been 38 weeks I think I can handle that!  I hope it's less.  Because a) We just want to meet this little homie who I've been carrying around with me for the last 9 months, and b) I'm getting borderline uncomfortable.  I'm actually not as uncomfortable at I thought I'd be though at this point.  Baby boy is LOW which might be why I feel some what okay.  I felt more uncomfortable a month ago when he was using my ribs cage to kick/push against.  Anyways, on to the updates.

-Had my appointment last Thursday and I'm starting to dilate and 50% effaced.  The doc pretty much felt the head of junior when she was checking me and commented on how crazy low he was.  I was just looking in the mirror that very morning thinking how much lower my belly looked.  And sitting is awkward unless I sit with my legs spread eagle...highly lady like. ha. So...my suspicions were confirmed.  :)
-31 lbs gained so far.
-I've had some contraction like pain but nothing crazy.  Last Thursday after work was probably the worst.  Each time it's in my back.  Should I be afraid?  Are we looking at back labor here?  ;) Uh oh.  Last night I kept having dreams about starting labor.  I was waking up over and over with tightening buuuuuut....I feel like a champ this morning.  Ah well.  :)
-My appetite is just shot.  Honestly...I think I felt actually legitimately hungry for about 2 months of this pregnancy.  Other then that food has just been...meh.  And yet I have 31 lbs to claim as my own???  :)
-Starting to pack a hospital bag.  Which is weird.  Because it makes it feel real.  In reality though I'm just going to pack it when labor starts haha.  'Cause that's how I roll.  But I'm starting to buy the few items that I want to put IN to the hospital bag that I don't have.  So there you go, I'm not a total slacker. :)
-Finished baby boy's quilt.  AND with 2 weeks to spare!  Boo yah.  Now THAT is an accomplishment thank.you.very.much.  I tried out a couple of techniques that in the end I was really pleased with.  For one...I machine quilted it on my basic little Singer...with out a walking foot (which I don't recommend that part).  EVERY store was out of walking foots and I just wanted to be done soooooo...I went for it and honestly...it worked (with a couple of minor flaws).  You just have to be really exact on the speed at which you pull the quilt through.  I also did the binding using THIS LADY'S technique and I will definitely be doing any future quilts in the same way.  It turned out well.   :)

Anyways, I guess that's it.  I'm off to enjoy my first day of maternity leave...where I go get my FIRST EVER pedicure and go into work from 1-5:30.  Say what?  I know, I know.  You're supposed to NOT work on maternity leave.  They haven't found a replacement for me and I'm going into town anyways and yeah...I promise...just today.  ;)

Okay.
I'm done!
Peace.

10 Happy Things

10 Things that are making me happy right now...

10. This amazing sunshiny weather.  It's been overcast/rainy the last week and so this sun is a makin' me happy.
9. Coming home yesterday with the knowledge that I had a HUGE pile of dishes to do...only to find out that my husband left work early and beat me to them.  LOVE him.
8. Tomorrow being my last day before maternity leave (though I might do some part-time work next week).
7. Scoring some totally adorable baby clothes at Baby Gap.  I have yet to buy any clothes until now but I just couldn't resist $0.97 pants and such. :)
6. My quilt is SOOOOO close to being done.  It's quilted and ready for the binding.  I'm digging the way it's turned out.
5. The yellow daisies I have in my new turquoise Ball mason jars.  So happy.
4. 2 weeks until my due date (realizing that he may come later of course).
3. An appointment today that told me labor is starting to progress.  I guess all that back pain as of late has a purpose.
2. Our garden!  Seriously, I'm in love with it.  It's so pretty.  Full of flowers, strawberries, snap peas, spinach, bell peppers, lettuce and more.  I love being out there, watering it, and tending to it.  Granted, this belly makes it a little more interesting but I find it odd how motivated I've been this year while pregnant and yet last year....it sorta ended up falling by the way side.  Maybe it's the whole "cultivating life" thing that's going on within me.  Makes me want to cultivate life in other things too.  :)
1. Life in general and my sweet Lord.  I feel very blessed as of late.  I have a great family, a seriously amazing husband, a baby on the way...and a Jesus who died for me.  Can't get much better then that eh?

Happy Thursday

37 Weeks

It's been a week since my last post!
Yikes.

Time is flying by folks.  We've had a busy week/weekend.  Jason ended up needing some super minor maintenance done on his fillings that he got about a month ago.  He picked his parents up at the San Francisco airport from their trip in Europe and went down south with them so that he could see his dentist.  We spent 3 days apart and then his family and grandma and him came back up on Saturday morning for his actual graduation ceremony where he walked.  (He was done in January technically but they only have one big graduation ceremony a year).  Sunday was full of hiking and hanging out...and Monday was full of crib building and recovering from said hike.  4 miles is a heck of a lot more intense at 37 weeks pregnant.  Holy cow.  :)

Anyways, so here we are...a bit past 37 weeks.
Because I am so incredibly exhausted and coming up with a real blog post seems a bit past my capability I found some questions to answer instead.  Ready.Set.Go.

How far along: 37 1/2 weeks!
Total weight gain: 30 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Oh yes...and most are uncomfortable and getting too small.
Stretch marks: Nope.  I thought I had some around the belly button but they were just broken blood vessels that have since gone away.
Sleep: Terrible.  Bathroom is up to 2-3 times a night but it's mostly the soreness I experience in my hips that's keeping me up.  Switching positions at night is just plain comical.
Best moment of this week: A whole weekend spent with Jason.  It was the last one before he goes back to teaching for the summer...and before the baby comes.  :)
Miss anything: Not too much.  I mean I miss backpacking, good cardio, and sushi.  :)  I enjoy being pregnant though quite a bit so it's not enough to make me REALLY miss those things.
Movement: Oh yeah! My belly looks like something is literally trying to come out of it at times…and those pointy little feet dude.  Ouch.  :)
Food cravings: Food hasn't been very appetizing to me for the last month or so.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No.  I get some light nausea in the morning though sometimes.
Have you started to show yet: No not at all. :) ha!
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Some Braxton Hicks.  Had about 3 hours of steady back pain with tightening on Friday...but that was it.  And nothing since.
Worries/Fears: Overall I'm pretty at peace with this impending labor.  I do worry though about the baby.  What if he's not healthy etc?  God is so very much in control though and I remind myself daily of this.  This is HIS little baby boy.  :)
Belly button in or out: What belly button?  :)
Wedding rings on or off: On.  They get tight though when it's warm.
Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty happy overall.  When I'm tired though I get slightly cranky.  :)
Looking forward to: Finishing my last week of work (which is THIS week)  Hollah!
